Free Twitter video downloader: paste an X post link, pick any quality the video has and save the MP4. Bulk mode takes 10 links. No login, no app.

Page: https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-video-downloader

## Limits

- Free: 120 view requests per minute and 30 video lookups per day; bulk video download of up to 10 links.
- Pro: no rate limits.

This Twitter video downloader saves the video from any public post on X as an MP4 file. Paste the post link, see every quality the post carries and download the one you want. There is nothing to install and no account to create, and the file you get is the original MP4 that X stores for the post, not a re-encoded copy. It works with links from x.com and twitter.com, one at a time or up to ten at once.

## How to use the Twitter video downloader

You only need the link of the post.

1. Open the post on X, in the app or in a browser, and copy its link with **Share**, then **Copy link**.
2. Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and press **Get video**.
3. Check the result card, which shows the author, the duration and the best quality available. Press play to preview the clip.
4. Pick a row in the quality table and press **Download**. The MP4 is saved with a file name like `twitterviewer-nasa-1234567890-720p.mp4`.

The box accepts links from x.com, twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com, links shared through fxtwitter, vxtwitter, fixupx or fixvx, and the bare numeric post ID. A profile link or an `@handle` is not a post link, so you will be asked for the post itself. If you only know the account, find the post first with the [Twitter profile viewer](https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-profile-viewer).

> **Tip: Skip the paste**
> Add `?q=` and a post link to the address of this page and the lookup starts as soon as the page opens. Add `?mode=bulk` to open the [bulk downloader](https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-video-downloader?mode=bulk) directly.

## What is a Twitter video downloader?

A Twitter video downloader is a tool that takes the link of a post and gives you the video file inside it. X plays videos in its own player and does not show a download button, so a downloader fills the gap: it finds the video files behind the post and lets you save the Twitter video as an ordinary file you can keep, edit or watch offline.

X was renamed from Twitter in 2023, but people still search for both names and old twitter.com links still work. This page is the same tool whether you call it an X video downloader or a Twitter video downloader.

This one is a website, so it runs in whatever browser you already have. It is not a screen recorder, it does not unlock private accounts, and it does not convert videos. It saves the MP4 that X already has.

## How the Twitter video downloader works

### It reads the post

The link is reduced to a post ID, and TwitterViewer fetches the public data of that post, the same data a logged-out visitor can see. Results are cached for about two minutes.

### It lists every MP4 version

X stores each video as several MP4 files at different resolutions and bitrates. As a Twitter MP4 downloader it keeps the MP4 files only, one per resolution (the highest bitrate wins if two share a height), and sort them from the highest quality down. Each row of the table shows the resolution, a tier label, the format and the file size.

The size is exact when X's video server reports it quickly. When it does not, the table shows an estimate marked with `≈`, calculated from the bitrate and the duration.

### It relays the file to you

When you press **Download**, your browser asks TwitterViewer for the file, our server fetches it from X's video host and streams it back with a download header and a stable file name. Only X's own media hosts are accepted. The bytes are forwarded as they arrive and not stored on our side.

The relay exists because browsers ignore the `download` attribute on links to another site. Without it, the video would open in a player tab instead of being saved.

### No watermark, because nothing is re-encoded

The file you get is the variant X already stores for that post. We do not re-compress it and we do not add a logo or an end card. If the uploader burned a logo into the picture, it is still there, because it is part of the video itself.

## Twitter video downloader HD: choose the quality you need

A Twitter video downloader HD workflow starts with the table, which lists whatever resolutions the post has. The tier label next to each one is based on its height:

| Label | Height | A good fit for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Full HD | 1080p and above | Editing, big screens, keeping the best copy |
| HD | 720p to 1079p | Watching on a laptop or phone, everyday sharing |
| SD | 480p to 719p | Sending in chat, small screens |
| Low | Below 480p | Quick references, saving mobile data |

Two things are worth knowing. First, the list depends on the upload: a clip posted at 720p has no 1080p row, and we do not upscale. Second, the preview player plays a version of at most 720p to save your data, so what you see in the preview is not always the highest quality you can download.

A post can hold more than one video. When it does, tabs named **Video 1**, **Video 2** and so on appear above the card, and each video has its own quality table.

## Download several Twitter videos at once

Switch to the **Bulk** tab to save Twitter video clips in batches: queue up to 10 links, one per line. The counter shows how many lines you have, for example `3 / 10 links`.

- **Duplicates and bad lines.** The same post pasted twice is resolved once, lines that are not post links are skipped, and links past the tenth are ignored. A notice says how many.
- **A queue with status.** Each link becomes a row that goes from fetching to ready or failed. Three links are resolved at the same time.
- **Quality per row.** Every ready row has its own quality menu, so you can take 1080p for one clip and 480p for another.
- **Retry one, not all.** A failed row has its own **Retry** button, and the others are not touched.
- **One ZIP.** **Download all ready** collects the selected version of every ready row into `twitterviewer-videos.zip`. The ZIP is assembled in your browser, and a progress counter shows how many files are done.

Each link uses one lookup. Bulk mode uses the first video of each post, so for a post that holds several videos use the single tab and pick them one by one. The ZIP is built in memory, so ten long Full HD clips need a computer with room to spare; choose lower qualities or save them one by one if the browser struggles.

## Why use an online Twitter video downloader

- **Nothing to install.** This online Twitter video downloader works in any browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, and there is no app update to manage.
- **No X account.** You never log in to X or hand over a password.
- **The original file.** You get the MP4 variants X serves, with no extra watermark and no extra compression pass from us.
- **Free to start.** As a free Twitter video downloader it allows 30 lookups a day, and the site has no ads and no third-party trackers.

> **Note: Your rights as a viewer, theirs as a creator**
> A video belongs to whoever posted it. Save it for yourself, and ask before you re-upload or reuse someone else's work.

## Free Twitter video downloader: daily lookups and Pro

One lookup is one link resolved. It does not matter whether you paste it on the single tab or in bulk mode. The strip at the bottom of the tool shows how many of your 30 daily lookups are left, for example `Free plan · 27 of 30 lookups left today`.

Saving files does not use lookups. Once a row is on screen you can download any of its qualities as often as you like, and use the preview as much as you want. When the daily allowance runs out, the tool says so, and new lookups work again once the daily window resets.

[Pro](https://twitterviewer.app/pricing) removes the lookup limit. It costs $5 a month or $48 a year and is paid in crypto, as described on the pricing page.

## Twitter video downloader vs browser extensions and apps

All three do the same job: they find the video file for a post. They differ in where they run and what they ask of you.

| Approach | Where it runs | Worth knowing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| This website | Any browser, no install | Needs the post link; one paste or one bulk list per session |
| Browser extension | One desktop browser | Adds a button next to the post, but must be installed on each browser and asks permission to read pages you visit |
| Phone app | One phone | Handy for repeat use, but the app store listing, permissions and updates are yours to manage |
| Screen recording | Any device | Records the player in real time, at screen resolution, with interface overlays |

An extension is convenient if you save dozens of clips a day on one computer. A website suits everything else: a borrowed laptop, a work machine where you cannot install software, a phone, or a quick one-off.

We do not have an extension or an app. The closest thing is the [bookmarklet](https://twitterviewer.app/bookmarklet): one click on an X page opens that post in TwitterViewer, where you can copy its link into the downloader.

## Twitter video downloader for iPhone, Android and desktop

### iPhone

The Twitter video downloader for iPhone is this same page, with nothing to install. Copy the post link in the X app or in Safari, open this page in Safari, paste and download. The MP4 is saved to the Files app, in Downloads, and the share sheet there lets you save it to Photos.

### Android

Copy the link in the X app, open this page in Chrome or another browser, paste and download. The file lands in your Downloads folder. You can also install TwitterViewer from the browser menu and send a post to it from X's share sheet, which opens the post so you can copy its link from there.

### Computer

Copy the link from the address bar of the post, or from the **Share** menu, and paste it here. The download goes to your browser's default folder.

## Why a Twitter video download fails

When a lookup does not work, the message on the page tells you which case you are in.

- **"No video in this post."** The post has only text or images, or the video is a link to another site such as a video platform. Only videos hosted on X can be downloaded.
- **A request for a post link.** You pasted a profile link, an `@handle` or a search address. Open the post and copy its own link.
- **"Post not found."** The post was deleted or the link has a typo. Try the link in a new browser tab.
- **"This account is protected."** The author limited the account to approved followers. See the FAQs below.
- **The video belongs to another post.** In a quote post the video sits in the quoted post, and in a reply it may sit in the parent. Copy the address of the post that shows the video.
- **Daily limit reached.** All 30 free lookups for the day are used, and the counter in the tool shows it.
- **The post could not be fetched.** A data source did not answer in time. Press **Retry** on the card, or on the row in bulk mode.
- **The download stops halfway.** The connection dropped. Press **Download** again.

## What this Twitter video downloader supports

**It can download:**

- Videos hosted on X in public posts, including videos in replies and quote posts when you use the link of the post that holds the video.
- GIFs on X, as MP4 files. X stores a GIF as a short looping video, and the result card says **GIF found**. If you need a real `.gif` file, use the [Twitter GIF downloader](https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-gif-downloader).
- Posts with more than one video, one video at a time.
- Several resolutions of the same video, in MP4.

**It cannot download:**

- Videos from protected, deleted or suspended accounts.
- Audio on its own. There is no MP3 option, only the MP4 file.
- Videos embedded from other platforms.
- Everything an account has ever posted in one go. To go through an account's videos and images, use the [Twitter media viewer](https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-media-viewer), which lists them in one gallery and can save single files or everything as a ZIP.

## Twitter Video Downloader FAQs

### What is a Twitter video downloader?

A Twitter video downloader is a tool that finds the video file behind an X post and lets you save it as a normal file. You paste the post link, choose a quality and download an MP4. This one is a website, so there is no app or extension to install, and it works with links from both x.com and twitter.com.

### Is this Twitter video downloader free?

Yes, this free Twitter video downloader costs nothing to use. The free plan allows 30 lookups a day, where one lookup is one post link resolved, in single or bulk mode. Saving the files does not use lookups. Pro removes the lookup limit for $5 a month or $48 a year. There are no ads and no account is needed.

### Can I download videos from private or protected accounts?

No. A protected account's posts are visible only to followers the owner approved, and the downloader reads only public posts, so you will see "This account is protected". The same goes for deleted and suspended accounts. If the video is yours, you have the original file on your device, and an archive of your own X data includes the media you uploaded. If it belongs to someone else, ask them to share the file. The [guide to what a no-login viewer can see](https://twitterviewer.app/blog/what-a-no-login-viewer-can-see) explains the limits.

### Can I save only the audio as MP3?

No, this downloader saves the video as MP4 and has no audio-only or MP3 option. If you need the sound, download the MP4 and extract the audio on your computer with a media player such as VLC or a tool like ffmpeg,.

### Does the downloaded video have a watermark?

No, TwitterViewer does not add one. The file is the MP4 that X already stores for the post, delivered without re-encoding or overlays. The only marks you will see are the ones the uploader put into the video themselves.

### Which quality will I get?

You get every quality the post has, from the highest to the lowest, each in its own row of the table. A post uploaded in 1080p offers a Full HD row, and one uploaded in 720p tops out at 720p. The uploader's original upload decides the ceiling.

### Do I need an X account or to log in?

No. You do not need an X account, and TwitterViewer never asks for your X password. The downloader works on public posts.

### Is there a Twitter video downloader for iPhone?

Yes, this page works in Safari with nothing to install. Copy the post link in the X app, open this page in Safari, paste the link and press **Get video**, then **Download**. The MP4 is saved in the Files app under Downloads. To add it to your photo library, open the file, use the share sheet and choose **Save Video**.

### Is there a Twitter video downloader extension or app?

No, TwitterViewer is a website and has no extension or app in a store. You can install it as a web app from your browser menu on Android, and the [bookmarklet](https://twitterviewer.app/bookmarklet) lets you jump from an X page to the same post here with one click. Both are shortcuts to the website rather than separate downloaders.

### Can I download several Twitter videos at once?

Yes, switch to the **Bulk** tab and paste up to 10 post links, one per line. Each link is resolved, you can choose a quality per row, and **Download all ready** packs the selected files into one ZIP. If one link fails you can retry only that row. For a post with several videos, use the single tab.

### Why is my Twitter video not downloading?

The usual causes are a post with no video, a link that is not a post link, a deleted post, a protected account or an exhausted daily allowance. The message on the page names the case. If it says it could not fetch the post, press **Retry** after a moment. The section above, *Why a Twitter video download fails*, lists each case and its fix.

### Can I download Twitter GIFs?

Yes, a GIF on X is a looping MP4, so this page saves it as MP4 and labels the result **GIF found**. For a real `.gif` file, use the [Twitter GIF downloader](https://twitterviewer.app/twitter-gif-downloader), which converts the video inside your browser without uploading it.

### Are the videos stored on your servers?

No. When you press **Download**, our server streams the file from X's video host straight to your browser and keeps no copy. Only the post data is cached, for about two minutes.
