How to Download Twitter Videos on Any Device
How to download Twitter videos comes down to three actions: copy the link of the post, paste it into a downloader, and choose the MP4 quality you want to keep. X shows a video player but no save button on most posts, so the link is the only thing you need. The platform is now called X, but the steps are the same under either name.
This guide covers the steps on a computer, an iPhone and an Android phone, how to choose a quality, why the saved file has no watermark, how to save many videos at once, how to save a GIF, and what to do when a download fails. Every step uses the free Twitter video downloader on this site.
How do you download Twitter videos in four steps?
- Open the post on X and copy its link (Share, then Copy link).
- Paste the link into the Video Downloader and press Get video.
- Look at the quality table. Each row is one MP4 version of the clip, with its resolution and file size.
- Press Download next to the version you want.
That is the whole method. You do not need an X account or a TwitterViewer login, and you install nothing; it works in a normal browser tab. The rest of this guide covers the details.
Where do you find the link of a post?
The downloader reads post links, so the first job is always the same: get the address of the post that contains the video.
- In the X app: tap the share icon under the post, then choose Copy link.
- In a browser: copy the address from the address bar while the post is open.
- From a reply or a quote: open the post that actually contains the video before you copy. If the video sits in a quoted post, open the quoted post and copy its link instead.
The downloader accepts links from x.com, twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com, plus the fxtwitter, vxtwitter and fixupx variants that chat apps use for previews. A bare post ID, the long number at the end of the address, works too. A link to a profile, a hashtag or a search page does not, because there is no single video to resolve.
If you are already reading a post on this site, which works without an account as described in how to view X posts without logging in, a post with a video shows a Download video button that opens the downloader with the link pre-filled. The Open from X bookmarklet does the jump from X in one click.
How to download Twitter videos on a computer
On a desktop or laptop the job takes a few seconds. This is the "on PC" method, and it is identical on a Mac.
- In the browser, open the post on x.com and copy the address from the address bar.
- Open the Twitter video downloader in a new tab and paste the link into the Post link box.
- Press Get video. A result card shows the post text, the author, the duration and the best available quality, with a poster image.
- Press the play button on the poster if you want to check that it is the right clip.
- In the quality table, press Download on the row you want.
The browser saves an MP4 file to your downloads folder. The name is built from the post so you can recognise it later, as in twitterviewer-NASA-1234567890123456789-720p.mp4: username, post ID and height. Two qualities of the same post never overwrite each other.
If the post has more than one video, the result card shows tabs labelled Video 1, Video 2 and so on. Each tab has its own quality table, and you download each video separately.
How to download a Twitter video on iPhone
On iPhone, Safari saves the file to the Files app, and from there you can move it into Photos.
- In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to the Twitter video downloader.
- Paste the link into the Post link box and tap Get video.
- Tap Download on the quality you want, and confirm the download when Safari asks.
- Open the Downloads list in Safari, or the Downloads folder in the Files app, and tap the video to play it.
- To keep it with your camera roll, open the video in Files, tap the share icon and choose Save Video.
The wording of the prompts changes a little between iOS versions, but the path stays the same: Safari stores the MP4 in Files, and Files can share it to Photos or any app that accepts video. If you do this often, add the bookmark script from the Open from X page to Safari.
How to download a Twitter video on Android
On Android the file goes to the Downloads folder.
- In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link.
- Open Chrome, or any browser, and go to the Twitter video downloader.
- Paste the link and tap Get video.
- Tap Download on the quality you want. The browser shows a notification when the file is ready.
- Open the notification, or open the Files app and go to Downloads, to play the video.
If your gallery does not show the file, move the MP4 into your Movies or DCIM folder with the Files app. For a faster path, open the browser menu and choose Install app. TwitterViewer then appears in the Share sheet inside X, and sharing a post to it opens that post here, where posts with a video have the Download video button.
Which quality should you choose?
The quality table lists every MP4 version of the video that X offers, from the largest to the smallest, with a resolution label such as 1080p or 720p, a tag, the format and the file size.
| Tag | Resolution | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Full HD | 1080p and above | Editing, archiving, large screens |
| HD | 720p up to 1079p | A good default for phones and laptops |
| SD | 480p up to 719p | Sharing in chat, smaller storage |
| Low | below 480p | Quick previews, slow connections |
The top row is the best source X holds for that clip, and the card above the table names it, for example 1080p source. Nothing can be sharper than that row, because the downloader does not upscale or re-encode: it saves one of the files X already stores.
A few practical rules:
- Editing or re-uploading: take the top row. You can shrink a large file later, but you cannot add detail back.
- Sharing in a chat app: pick HD or SD. Chat apps recompress video anyway, and a smaller file uploads faster.
File sizes are exact when the downloader can read them from the file server. Otherwise the size is marked with ≈ and is an estimate: bitrate times duration, divided by eight. A clip with a 2 Mbps stream that runs for 60 seconds comes to about 15 MB. The preview player streams at most 720p to stay light on mobile data; it does not change what you download.
Why does the saved Twitter video have no watermark?
People who search for a Twitter video downloader without watermark are usually remembering other platforms, where the saved file carries the app's logo in a corner. X does not do that. The MP4 files X stores for a post are the video itself, with no X or username overlay burned into the picture.
The downloader keeps it that way. When you press Download, the file is streamed from X's media servers to your device with a clean file name. It is not decoded, cropped, re-encoded or branded on the way, so what you save is exactly the version you selected.
There is one honest exception. If the creator edited the clip in another app and that app stamped its own logo into the picture, the mark is part of the original video, baked into the pixels, and no downloader can remove it. Videos keep their sound; the only X media without audio is an animated GIF.
How to download several Twitter videos at once
If you have a list of posts, open the Bulk tab on the same page instead of repeating the single flow.
- Switch to Bulk.
- Paste up to 10 post links into the box, one per line. A counter shows how many lines you have, for example
3 / 10 links. - Press the Get button, which shows the count, for example Get 3 videos. Each link becomes a row in a queue with its own status: fetching, ready or failed. Up to three rows are looked up at the same time.
- For each ready row, pick the quality in its drop-down list, which shows the resolution and the size.
- Press Download on one row, or Download all ready to get every ready row in a ZIP file named
twitterviewer-videos.zip.
Duplicate links are looked up once, lines that are not post links are skipped (the page tells you how many), and only the first 10 links are used if you paste more. A failed row has its own Retry button and does not restart the others.
The ZIP is built inside your browser, so a big batch of long 1080p clips needs memory on your device; on a phone, keep batches smaller. Bulk mode takes the first video of each post, so for a post with several videos use the single mode, where each video has its own tab.
What about GIFs on X?
An animated GIF on X is not a GIF file. When someone uploads a GIF, X converts it into a short, silent, looping H.264 MP4 and discards the original. That is why a normal video downloader gives you an MP4 when you save a GIF from X.
If MP4 is fine, the video downloader handles a GIF post like any other: it labels the result GIF found and lists the MP4 versions. If you need a real .gif file, for example for a place that does not accept video, use the Twitter GIF downloader. It decodes the MP4 and re-encodes it as a true .gif inside your browser, in three visible stages, and nothing is uploaded to a server. A real GIF is larger than the MP4 it came from and has a limited palette, so if the place you are posting to supports video, keep the MP4.
Why will a Twitter video not download?
Almost every failure falls into one of the cases below.
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Paste the link of an X post" | The text is a profile, hashtag or search address, or the link is cut off | Open the post itself and copy its link again |
| "No video in this post" | The post has only images or text, the video belongs to a quoted post, or it is a link card from another site | Open the post that holds the video |
| "Post not found" | The post was deleted, or the link has a typo | Check the link in X; once a post is deleted, the file is gone |
| "This account is protected" | The post is from a private account | Nothing can be done without access to the account |
| "Rate limit reached" or, in bulk mode, "Daily limit reached" | The free allowance of video lookups is used up | Wait for the window to reset, or use Pro |
| "We couldn't load this post" or, in bulk mode, "Couldn't fetch this post" | A temporary problem retrieving the post | Press Try again or Retry, or wait a minute |
Videos from protected, deleted or suspended accounts cannot be loaded, because the downloader reads public content only. If a public video keeps failing after a couple of retries, send the link with the feedback button on the site.
How many Twitter videos can you download per day?
The free allowance is 30 video lookups per day. A lookup happens each time the page resolves a post link: each press of Get video, each row in bulk mode, and each retry of a failed row. The counter at the bottom of the page shows what is left, for example Free plan · 28 of 30 lookups left today · bulk up to 10 links.
- One lookup covers every quality option of a post. Saving the same video at two qualities does not cost two lookups, but pressing Get video twice does.
- Saving the file is not a lookup. Once a row is on screen, Download can be pressed again freely.
- GIF lookups share the same allowance, because the GIF downloader uses the same lookup.
Pro removes the limit on video lookups, as listed on the pricing page. Bulk mode with up to 10 links is available on the free plan too.
How to save Twitter videos responsibly
Videos belong to the people who made them. Saving a clip for personal reference, research or an offline copy is a normal use. Re-uploading someone else's work or using it commercially is different, and the downloader shows a reminder with every result for that reason. When in doubt, ask the creator, and credit them when you share. To find a video post in the first place, the Twitter media viewer lists an account's posts that have media, and the X advanced search operators guide shows how to narrow a search to video posts.
Twitter video download FAQs
What is a Twitter video downloader?
A Twitter video downloader is a tool that takes the link of an X post and gives you the video inside it as a file you can keep, usually an MP4. X plays videos in its own player and does not offer a save button on every post, so a downloader reads the public post, lists the available versions and lets you save one. The downloader on this site works in the browser and needs no account.
How do I download a Twitter video?
Copy the post link, paste it into the downloader, press Get video and press Download next to the quality you want. The same four steps work on a computer, an iPhone and an Android phone. Only the place where the file ends up differs: the Downloads folder on a computer and on Android, and the Files app on an iPhone.
How do I save Twitter videos to my phone?
Use the browser on the phone: copy the link in the X app, open the downloader in Safari or Chrome, paste it and download. On iPhone the file lands in the Files app; on Android it lands in Downloads.
How do I download a Twitter video on iPhone?
Copy the post link in the X app, open the downloader in Safari, paste it, tap Get video and tap Download on a quality. Safari saves the MP4 to the Files app, and Save Video from the share icon adds it to Photos.
How do I download a Twitter video on Android?
Copy the post link in the X app, open the downloader in Chrome or another browser, paste it and tap Download on a quality. The file goes to the Downloads folder and the browser shows a notification when it finishes.
How do I download a Twitter video on PC?
Open the post in your browser, copy the address from the address bar, paste it into the downloader and press Download on a quality. The steps are the same on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Is there a Twitter video downloader without watermark?
Yes, this one saves the file without adding a watermark. It streams the MP4 that X stores, without re-encoding it or adding an overlay. The only marks you might see are ones the creator put into the original video before uploading it.
What quality will the downloaded video be?
The quality is whichever row you choose, up to the best version X holds for that video, which can be as high as 1080p. A downloader cannot make a video sharper than the original upload.
Can I download several Twitter videos at once?
Yes, up to 10 per batch. Open the Bulk tab, paste one post link per line, choose a quality for each row and press Download all ready to get one ZIP file. Each row is a separate lookup, so a batch of 10 uses 10 of your 30 daily lookups on the free plan.
Can I download videos from a private or protected account?
No. Protected accounts share their posts only with approved followers, and TwitterViewer reads public content only. It does not use your X account, so a video from a protected account cannot be resolved or saved. Posts from deleted or suspended accounts cannot be downloaded either.
Can I download a GIF from Twitter?
Yes. X stores GIFs as looping MP4 files, which the video downloader saves like any other video. For a real .gif file, use the GIF downloader, which converts the MP4 inside your browser without uploading it.
Is it free to download Twitter videos here?
Yes. Single downloads and bulk downloads of up to 10 links are free, with 30 video lookups per day, and you do not need to sign in or have an X account. Pro removes the daily limit on lookups.
Does the creator know that I downloaded their video?
No. The downloader reads public data and saves a file to your device, and the account owner gets no notification.
