Twitter thread to PDF turns a thread from X into a document you can keep, print or send. You paste the link of any post from a public thread, TwitterViewer lays the author's posts out in order on clean pages, and your browser saves the result as a PDF. The file has numbered posts, full-size images and a link back to X under each post. No X account is needed, and nothing is installed.

This guide shows how to save a Twitter thread as a PDF on a computer, an iPhone and an Android phone, explains each page setting, describes what ends up inside the file, covers tweet to PDF for a single post and PDF output by API, and lists what a save costs.

What Twitter thread to PDF does

A thread on X is a chain of posts by one author. On screen it is a column of cards, mixed with replies, ads and suggestions. On paper or in a file, you want only the author's words, in order, with the pictures. That is the job of Twitter thread to PDF.

The tool reads the thread from your link, keeps the author's own posts, and formats them as a document: a title, a line with the author, date and number of posts, then each post under its number, such as 4/12. Images are placed at full size and never split across a page break. A footer on the last page says the file was saved with TwitterViewer, with the source link.

The PDF itself is made by your browser. The page prepares a print-ready layout, then opens your browser's print dialog with only that layout on the page. In that dialog you choose Save as PDF instead of a printer. This is why the tool works on any device that has a modern browser, and why the file comes out sharp and searchable rather than as a picture of a web page.

People look for this under several names: "twitter thread to pdf", "tweet to pdf", "twitter to pdf", "x thread to pdf", "save twitter thread as pdf" and "download twitter thread". All of them mean the same thing here.

How to save a Twitter thread as PDF

  1. Copy the link of a post in the thread. On x.com, copy the address from the browser bar. In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. Any post in the thread works, including the last one.
  2. Paste it into the box at the top of this page and press Make PDF. The Paste button fills the box from your clipboard.
  3. Check the preview. The page shows the document on a sheet in the paper size you selected, so you can see the title, the order of posts and the images before you save anything.
  4. Adjust the page setup if you want to: paper size, images, post links, stats and replies. The next section explains each one.
  5. Press Save as PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens with only the thread on the page. Pick PDF as the destination, name the file and save.

If the print dialog does not open, the page tells you to allow pop-ups and try again. A pop-up blocker is the usual cause, and the setting is per site.

To skip the copy and paste on a computer, replace x.com with twitterviewer.app in the address of any post. TwitterViewer opens the thread, and you can export from there. Post pages and profile pages also have an Export menu, with a Save as PDF entry for the whole thread or for this post.

Five settings control how the thread looks on paper. They change the layout only, so you can try them one by one and watch the preview update.

SettingWhat it doesWhen to change it
PaperA4 or LetterUse Letter in the United States and Canada, A4 almost everywhere else
ImagesShows each image at full size, never split across pagesTurn off for a text-only copy that is shorter and cheaper to print
Post linksAdds a link back to X under each postKeep on for citations, turn off for a cleaner read
StatsAdds likes, reposts and viewsTurn on to record how a thread performed that day
Replies from othersAdds the first page of repliesLeave off to read it like an article

Turning Replies from others on is different from the other four, because it needs more data. The page fetches the replies, and that counts as a new conversion. Leave it off unless the replies are what you want to keep.

What the PDF contains

Every file follows the same layout, which makes a folder of saved threads easy to scan.

  • A title. It comes from the first line of the first post, cut at a word boundary after at most 60 characters.
  • A byline. The author's name and handle, the date of the first post, the number of posts and the source link.
  • Numbered posts. Each post sits next to its number, 1/12, 2/12 and so on. A single post has no number.
  • Links that work. Web addresses in the text are real links, with no t.co shortening. @mentions and hashtags link back to X.
  • Images. Photos use the original file.
  • Quoted posts. They appear as an indented block that names the quoted author.
  • Video and GIF. A PDF cannot play them, so each one is a link to the video file. To keep the clip itself, use the Twitter Video Downloader or the Twitter GIF Downloader.
  • Polls and Community Notes. They are printed when the data source returns them.
  • A footer. "Saved with TwitterViewer · twitterviewer.app" closes the document.

Text in the file is real text, so you can search it, select it and copy from it. That matters for long threads and for screen readers, which cannot use a screenshot.

How to save a Twitter thread as PDF on iPhone

The iPhone has no "Save as PDF" button in its print sheet, but it has a well-known way to get one.

  1. In the X app, copy the link of a post in the thread.
  2. Open this page in Safari, paste the link and press Make PDF.
  3. Press Save as PDF. The print sheet opens with a small preview of the first page.
  4. Pinch out on that preview with two fingers. It turns into a full PDF view.
  5. Tap the share icon, then choose Save to Files, or send the file straight to Books, Mail or Messages.

Keep the Safari tab open until the file is saved. On iPad the steps are the same.

How to save a Twitter thread as PDF on Android

  1. In the X app, tap the share icon under a post and choose Copy link.
  2. Open this page in Chrome, paste the link and press Make PDF.
  3. Press Save as PDF. The print screen opens.
  4. Open the printer selector at the top and choose the PDF option, check the paper size, then tap the PDF button.
  5. Choose where to save it. The file appears in your Downloads folder, and Android lists it in the Files app.

Chrome, Edge and Firefox on Android all offer a PDF destination in their print screens, with slightly different wording.

Save a Twitter thread as PDF on a computer

On Windows, macOS and Linux the print dialog has a destination menu.

  • Chrome and Edge: open the Destination menu and pick Save as PDF, then Save.
  • Firefox: choose Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows, or Save to PDF on macOS and Linux.
  • Safari on macOS: use the PDF menu at the bottom left of the print dialog and choose the PDF entry.

Leave margins and scaling on their defaults. The page already sets the paper size and margins, and changing them in the dialog can push an image onto a second page.

Tweet to PDF: a single post

A thread is not the only thing worth saving. A single post with a long caption, a chart or a screenshot of an announcement is often what people want as a file. For tweet to PDF, open the post on TwitterViewer, use Export and pick This post, then choose Save as PDF. The document has the same layout with one post and no numbering. The thread page on this site always lays out the whole thread, whichever post you paste.

A single post is also the cheapest save. One post is one credit when you are past your free save, and a quoted post counts as one more.

Why save an X thread as a PDF

A PDF is the format people still reach for when they want something to last or to travel. A few reasons stand out.

Posts disappear. Authors delete threads and accounts close. A PDF made today is a record of what the thread said, with a date and a link back to where it was.

Reading offline. A PDF opens on a plane, in a train tunnel and on an e-reader. Long technical threads are far easier to read on a tablet than as cards on a phone.

Sharing outside X. Many colleagues, clients and relatives have no X account. A PDF goes in an email or a chat as an ordinary attachment.

Printing. Study groups, workshops and meetings still print handouts. A thread that fits on a few A4 or Letter pages is a handout.

Annotating. PDF readers let you highlight and comment. That is more comfortable than copying a thread into a document and fixing the formatting.

A PDF is a snapshot. It shows the thread and the numbers as they were when you saved it, and it does not update when the author edits or deletes anything later. Note the date when you save, and add it to the file name.

PDF, Markdown or reading online?

The same thread can leave TwitterViewer in several shapes. Pick the one that matches what you do next, and save a Twitter thread to PDF when paper or a file is the goal.

  • Read it on one page: the Twitter Thread Reader.
  • Process it as text, paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or keep it in Obsidian or Notion: X to Markdown.
  • Print it, attach it or archive it: Twitter thread to PDF, which is this page.

All three take the same link, return the same posts and use the same small allowance, so you can try each without paying twice for the same request. If you convert the same link with the same options within ten minutes, the second request is free.

PDF files from code with the API

Everything above runs in the browser. If you need PDFs in bulk, or you want an agent or a script to produce them, the REST API can return one directly. Call POST /api/v1/convert with format set to pdf and a paper of a4 or letter, and the response is the PDF file. Server-side PDF output is available on the Pro and Business plans, and the rendering runs on our side, so no browser is needed on yours.

If rendering fails, the request is not charged. The Twitter API page introduces the endpoints, and the API docs list every parameter, the response headers and the error codes. The MCP server returns text and JSON, not PDF files, because most AI clients do not handle binary files; the Twitter MCP Server page explains what it does return.

What Twitter thread to PDF costs

A save uses the same credit rules as every other conversion on the site.

  • 1 free save a day, with or without an account, for up to 25 posts.
  • 1 credit per post returned after that. A 12-post thread is 12 credits. Replies, if you include them, and quoted posts count as posts.
  • Free in every case: the author's profile summary and any request that fails.
  • 50 credits when you sign up, one time, with no expiry. Plans add a monthly allowance from 3,000 credits, and credit packs start at $5 for 1,000. Pricing has the full table.

Twitter thread to PDF limits worth knowing

The PDF is built from public X data, so its limits are the limits of public data.

  • Protected accounts, deleted posts and suspended accounts cannot be saved.
  • A free save of a longer thread returns its first 25 posts and says so.
  • Images load from X's media servers, so an image that X has removed will be missing from a fresh save.
  • Polls, link cards and Community Notes appear only when the data source provides them. The long-form body of an X Article is not converted; you get the post that shares it.
  • The PDF shows public numbers from the moment of the save.

For a thread you cannot open at all, start with the guide to viewing X posts without logging in.
